At KS4 (currently Year 10 only) pupils are studying a pared down version of the Pearson Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in History (1HI0). The MMAP programme of study is designed to enrich their knowledge of events of the past, develop their skills of observation, empathy and evaluation and give them the opportunity to study at GCSE level. The topics covered include:
Medicine in Britain, c1250–present and The British sector of the Western Front, 1914–18: injuries, treatment and the trenches.
Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, c1060–88
Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941–91
Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918–39
If pupils show a particular interest and aptitude for the subject it may be possible to offer extra study in order for them to take the GCSE exam at the end of Year 11
